To create the list «best hospitals in Switzerland 2024», ...

... we focused on the treatment-outcome. On top of this list you find Swiss hospitals and clinics that performed best by means of outcome-quality-measures. Therefore, we have combined all key figures on the quality of results to form an overall score. You find hospitals / clinics in the first positions:

• whose patients have expressed great satisfaction and / or
• rarely had infections as a complication of the monitored operations and / or
• rarely had re-admissions due to the same disease («relapses») and / or
• rarely had re-operatiions within two years after implanted artificial hip and knee joints and / or
• in which hospital bedsores have rarely occurred and / or
• that scored well with regard to the result-quality in births (midwife survey) and / or hip replacement surgery (physiotherapist survey) and / or
• that have achieved the lowest mortality in the monitored interventions.

Only hospitals / clinics with at least 3 nationwide comparable measurements on the above topics appear in our overall best list.

Why result quality?

The key figures on the quality of results have the advantage that they directly measure what really impacts the patient - the actual success of the treatments and the absence of complications.

Another aspect of quality is the so-called "structural quality". These include e.g. Case numbers or the density of staff etc. Such indicators are interesting, but conclusions about the success of treatment are only possible indirectly.
